Countdown

It's the night before my last day in the states. I just spent the past few hours helping Nana to upload pictures to Walmart, and I finally got the webcams set up so I can call mom and dad on skype. They were both in bed by the time I got it set up, so I won't be able to show them until tomorrow. I've said my goodbyes to most of my family and friends, though I won't say it to my parents until I'm at the airport. I still have to go through all my stuff that's in the garage, but there's only a little left that isn't going to be stored, so it's just a matter of moving it into the shed.

My plane leaves at 6am on Friday morning from the Daytona Beach airport, which means my parents will be dropping me off there around 5am before they have to go to work. I don't know how long it will take me to get internet access once I'm over there, but I will be taking a paper journal with me, so that I'll have something with which to record my thoughts. As soon as I'm able, I'll send an e-mail/posting letting people know that I made it there safely, though as I said I don't know when that will be.

It's hard to beleive that tomorrow will be my last day in the US for the next year. It's odd, but a small part of me kept wondering when someone was going to jump out with a "just kidding!" sign, and tell me that some glitch had occured which would prevent me from going. But I'll be checking in online with Delta in just about 8 hours, and then it's just a waiting game to see how long I can go without my stomach getting all tied up in knots. There's something wonderously nervewracking about venturing into the unknown:

"These are the voyages of Breanna Horn.  Her one year mission: to explore strange new lands; to seek out new people and old civilizations; to go where no Horn has gone before."

A week before

Semi-busy day today. The five B's went to get our picture taken at Sears since this is the last time the five of us will be together for probably a very long time. The pictures came out very nicely, I thought:

We also had the American/Korean party today. It was so nice to see so many family members that I really only get to see once a year at Christmas. The decorations were good, the food was great, and the company was even better. I got so many cards from people, and enough Walmart cards to get me a much needed webcam, and some more necessities before I go (like socks, deodorant, etc.). So I signed up with Skype (my username is dreemwhrld), so if anyone else has it, please feel free to add me (or whatever it is that you do to call people) so I can see and talk to you! I will be experimenting with this sometime next week so I can make sure I can call mom and dad while I'm over there.

I also sold my car today!! I got cash for it, most of which is going back to Tami for lending me enough money to replace the engine almost two years ago. So I'm borrowing the Saturn tomorrow to drive down to Miami for the party and to see Jonathan before I go. I can't believe that tomorrow is the last time I'll get to see him before I go. But now it's time to go to sleep, since I have a long drive ahead of me tomorrow.

The beginning

It's Thursday morning, and I'm up because I haven't been able to sleep past nine since I moved home. I'm not sure why. It may be the sun that comes through the window in the back room in the mornings, or it may be that I often go to bed earlier than midnight since there's nothing to keep me awake. Regardless of why, I'm awake when I don't have to be, so I decided to do something constructive with my time that would keep me away from the looming task of going through the rest of my belongings in the garage before next Friday.

So this will be my blog. Available to friends and family who want updates and pictures of my time in Korea. I will be posting some of this on myspace as well, but since I know many people that don't have access to my page, this will be available to anyone that wants to see it. I have no idea how often this will be updated. It will probably depend on how often I do something interesting or different that I want to share. I imagine this will be a little more often when I first get there, as more of it will be new and interesting to me. But I shall try to be...hm. I don't know what I shall try to be. I suppose that's one reason that I'm moving; to try and find out what I should be and do with my life for the next 60 years. And even if I don't find that, I will certainly find the adventure of a lifetime.
